If you scout for GPS devices for the road, you will likely bump into a few brands and soon become confused about which model to purchase. This is really confusing when you are shopping for something that offers affordability and portability. The selection stocked in your local shopping center might not be very comprehensive, which may induce you to look on the internet and endeavor to find better options. Once you’ve looked, you’ll be surprised at how many GPS manufacturers are really in existence. Navman GPS products are one of the makers that you aren’t likely to encounter every day because they maintain no sales outlets in the US, but are all over the place in the UK and Australia. Still, their current line-up of products appears pretty pleasing to the eye. Another great model to consider is the Garmin Nuvi 1200 Portable GPS Navigator.
Navman F15
The Navman F15 appears to be the only Navman device currently available in the US and, naturally, US maps including Puerto Rico are provided. While the Navman F15 isn’t a widescreen GPS unit, the 3.5” touch screen in addition to its simple construction render this product a very easy to use gadget overall. Setting up the device will be easier than most other GPS units, which normally require some fiddling in order for the device to behave in the manner you’d prefer. These two characteristics easily define the F15 as a comfortable device for drivers to introduce themselves to GPS navigation as a whole.
The problem is, the navigation abilities of the device may let down some consumers due to the fact that it isn’t as accurate as the other North American manufactured GPS devices available. There might be a few situations in which you seem to go around in circles, but there are also even more stories of the Navman working just fine, so it will likely depend on the place in which you are. Your Navman’s points of interest may include a few restaurants and hotels, but the number of POI’s that come with this device are well short of the swarm of destinations that top GPS companies offer. The short battery life will probably be frustrating as well, but can be no surprise since this particular GPS model isn’t that expensive. Setting aside the negatives, the Navman GPS is still pretty good due to its straightforward user interface and functions and its ease in planning the fastest route and finding addresses.
Navman S35
The S35 comes with the same 3.5 inch screen as you’d get with the F15, and the casing looks pretty good looking and it is still conveniently portable. Navman’s mid-range model is made in Australia for domestic use, giving us over 500,000 points of interest for Aussie travelers and has the text-to-speech function which correctly says location names in an Australian accent. The S35 even has a mileage expense reporter that is excellent for customers who would like to manage gasoline costs more accurately. The most up to date maps of 2008 are additionally included.
Navman S45
The Navman S45 has the same helpful operations and looks as the S35, but the screen is wider; measuring 4.3 inches. Even with the widescreen option, the S45 still looks relatively portable. A comparable model is the Garmin Nuvi 1200 GPS Navigation System.
Navman GPS devices are limited in their range of variety, although they all attempt to be conveniently portable as well as trustworthy. They reached their goal in keeping an appealing and portable shape, but they could make some advancements on the accuracy side.
